Meet Curtis Patton, the man behind Piney River Goods—hand tooled leather goods made in Richmond, Virginia. Curtis and his family are truly incredible. They grow and harvest everything they eat—everything! We wanted to share Curtis’s work with you and give you a chance to win one of his handmade leather cuffs (giveaway details below)! Take a look at some behind the scenes photos of Curtis’s process.

“I started Piney River Goods because I have a great love of leather, especially carved leather. Nothing else in the world ages the same, it becomes more beautiful with wear and use, and betters itself with time. It’s a traditional craft that can’t be replicated by a machine. Much like playing a musical instrument, style and nuance can only come from doing it by hand. I draw and tool all of our own designs, we make our own templates, so each piece is different. I want to maintain a certain organic quality that can only be achieved by doing it this way.”
