Milo Beloved is a designer as well as a fashion and decor stylist who stumbled his way into Birmingham in 2008. Originally from Atlanta, Beloved moved to Birmingham seeking a fresh start and quickly fell in love with the growing community of artists. “Birmingham was electric for me. In Atlanta, networking is tough because there are so many people doing so many things, but in Birmingham it was easy to get to know the core movers and shakers and watch the city move forward. I felt like I was a part of the journey.”

In 2013, Milo created a vintage lifestyle brand, Harold&MOD, which specializes in fashion and decor either recycled, re-vamped, or freshly designed out of discarded materials. His shop is located downtown on 1st Ave N, about a block away from Urban Standard. Through collaboration with other local designers, over the top fashion shows and events, a growing body of editorial works, as well as music videos and seasonal campaigns, Harold&MOD has been getting a ton of attention lately. «WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT ALABAMA?
Proximity: Alabama has easy access to beaches, mountains, and fun cities like Nashville, Atlanta, Chattanooga, and New Orleans. I have always been a little afraid of feeling isolated geographically, so Alabama is a good location for me.

«WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE TO EAT IN ALABAMA?
I could never pick one. Favorite food Truck: Fresh Off the Bun; Favorite menu: El Barrio; Favorite atmosphere: Carrigans; Favorite authentic cultural: Gordos. Birmingham has a lot of great staples.

«IF SOMEONE WAS COMING IN FROM OUT OF TOWN TO VISIT YOU FOR THE NIGHT, WHERE IS THE ONE PLACE YOU WOULD TAKE THEM?
Gips Place. It’s been called the last remaining juke joint in the South. It is the most fun place to chill or dance and has the most diverse crowd, in the best way!

«WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS ONE OF ALABAMA’S BEST KEPT SECRETS?
Birmingham…Being an outsider, I had a lot of preconceived ideas about Alabama. Birmingham blew my mind. It has heart and courage, great food and drinks, creative people and fun places, intriguing history, and so much more.
